Thought For Food
Our soil scientist, Marisa, had the pleasure of attending Generation Fest hosted by Thought For Food and the NYC Agriculture Collective in Brooklyn, NY.
Regenerative ag community members, executives, organizations, and creative artists and innovators from around the world filled the room, eager to learn and share ideas.
The event began with a captivating poem connecting us and our routines to the deep senses of nature. Revolutionary company leaders and entrepreneurs then led the group on their ongoing – and not always linear – journeys to success.
Intricate installations surrounded the room for attendees to immerse themselves into between presentations and provided a comfortable space for everyone to connect. A favorite amongst the crowd was the full sensory soil immersion room which was packed with soil and mushrooms, allowing guests to absorb the smells, feels, and sounds associated with soil.
The day also featured interactive Q&A panels from nonprofit organizers, groundbreaking scientists, and company leaders who held informative presentations ranging from the carbon market to mycelium to gene manipulation.
Award-winning Chef Abang Brian took everyone into his world of sustainable cooking, urging people to cook with all parts of the plant– which he easily convinced people to do after providing samples of his banana heart and peel treats!
Throughout the day, Marisa had the opportunity to speak with local and international entrepreneurs and organizations as well as demonstrate the microBIOMETER® soil test. Two of these wonderful organizations included the nonprofit Teens for Food Justice, and the agrotechnology company CurubaTech.
As the day ended, the night kicked off with live musical performances, dancing and a sustainable afterparty and rave.
