This Week's Feature
Chiapeta Empresa Agrícola is a family agrobusiness in Rio Grande do Sul, a temperate climate. They have started using microBIOMETER® in their soil management and were excited to share their story.
This 4th generation farm in Brazil grows corn and soybeans as well as raises cattle. They incorporate a great deal of cover crops between their cash crops and have been doing no-till for more than 20 years. They began working deeply with biological agriculture in 2017 incorporating new methodologies specifically related to soil health. Their goal is to grow plants with a better immune system, therefore, decreasing dependence on chemical pesticides while building healthier soil.
microBIOMETER® is an important tool because it allows them to measure the level of microbes in their soil as well as measure the quality of commercial composts, such as organic fertilizer, and composts that they produce on the farm. Their thinking is that each farm is different and you need to create your own patterns to correlate and compare. They believe biological agriculture is the way to regenerate and create more resilient soil that will supply nutrients and higher immunity to the plants. This is why microBIOMETER® has become a invaluable asset to their soil management efforts.
Story provided by Marcelo Chiappetta. Marcelo is always happy to share his experience and discuss soil health related to soybean and corn production. Please feel free to reach out to him via his website or Instagram.
