Healthy Soil Summit
We had a wonderful time at the Healthy Soil Summit hosted by Acres USA! As always, we had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with many of our colleagues in the regenerative agriculture space.
Our booth was very busy throughout the two-day conference. Lucky for us, we were situated next to a compost processing and recycling collection company, Recology, who let us test their compost and vermicompost– enabling us to perform real world testing and demonstrate how our soil test and app functions.
There were many educational and insightful presentations during the conference. Our very own Laura Decker spoke about the role soil microbes play in a healthy ecosystem. Laura then led an informative discussion between audience members regarding their experiences in soil health management and different farming practices.
Other speakers included John Kempf who discussed the importance of soil health and participated in dialogue with the soil community, Dr. James White who presented his groundbreaking research on plant root-microbe interactions and Rick Clark who gave an enlightening talk on his successful journey transitioning his farm to one that focuses on soil health and biodiversity. After our conversation with Rick, he left with one of our microBIOMETER® test kits. We are looking forward to learning about his soil testing experience.
Another highlight of the conference was California agronomist James Pingrey of Myers Ranch demonstrating microBIOMETER® soil testing in the back of his truck during the farm tour. James follows the principles of biological farming and visually showed the difference in his almond and walnut fields.
The conference ended with us awarding raffle winner Soo Sun Choe with a microBIOMETER® Starter Kit. Soo Sun Choe has plans to bring our soil test to her Korean Natural Farming group meeting as well as share it at a few agriculture conferences throughout Hawaii.
Next up, the Eco-Ag Conference & Trade Show Dec. 5-8 in Covington, Kentucky. See you there!
